Well this is about the worst thing we have ever seen. It’s absolutely disgusting, and everyone involved should be completely ashamed of themselves.

The San Antonio Miracle Mattress store put out the following ad mocking 9/11 in a lame attempt to try and sell mattresses:

Just watching that makes us sick to our stomach. Thousands of innocent people lost their lives on that day during the worst terrorist attack in American History and these idiots are trying to use it to make a buck. Just unbelievable.

For what it’s worth, after some social media backlash, the story did attempt an apology:

“To all of those who have seen our 9/11 sale. We are very sorry we have offended you. Our intentions were not to hurt anyone at all. Our staff is full of military and some relatives have passed away due to 9/11. We are promoters of peace and love. We have given abundantly to our community here in San Antonio and wish to remain known as a company who respects and loves others. We hope you find it in your hearts to forgive us. Please accept our apology,” The sort of apology said.

Many of the comments do not accept their apology. One commentator pointed out it wasn’t really an apology, “You’re sorry you offended me? That’s not an apology I accept. Apologizing for creating it in the first place would be a start. Admitting you were WRONG for creating it is another step. There will never be an appropriate time to mock 9/11, and to do it to promote mattress sales?! Are you kidding me? Have some self respect,” she said.

Later the Miracle Mattress corporate office posted a slightly more appropriate apology. “An Apology to All the Victims and Families of 9/11 from Miracle Mattress,” the release started.

It continued:

“I am Mike Bonnanno, Owner of Miracle Mattress. Today, I was made aware of a social media video produced by our San Antonio team highlight a promotional sale using the upcoming 9/11 Anniversary as the incentive. The video was posted on Facebook without my knowledge or approval from our corporate office in Houston.

I say this unequivocally, with sincere regret: the video is tasteless and an affront to the men and women who lost their lives on 9/11. Furthermore, it disrespects the families who lost their loved ones and continue to struggle with the pain of this tragedy every day of their lives.

All I can say is I am deeply sorry and on behalf of the entire Miracle Mattress family. I accept responsibility for this thoughtless and crude advertisement and will immediately hold my employees accountable for this serious lapse of decency.

I am disgusted such a video would have been conceived as a promotional tool and even more incensed it was created and posted on any social media site that represents Miracle Mattress.

Effective immediately, Miracle Mattress will review our entire marketing strategy to ensure a stringent approval process will be in place to stop this form ever happening again. WE will also engage a personnel review to hole these employees accountable for their actions.

Miracle Mattress Strives to be a community partner and I could list our community outreach events and countless donations to the communities we swerve, However, this one act negates years of work and a laundry list of what we have done will not suffice.

We apologize and we promise to do better. Over the next several days, we will determin an appropriate response to express our regret and support for the 9/11 victims and their families. But for now only a sincere apology and acceptance of our fault is warranted.”

Do you accept the apology?
